Announcing Dr. Cezar Sandu's official departure from our practice
We are announcing Dr. Cezar Sandu's official departure from our practice effective June 22, 2018. Dr. Sandu has decided to pursue a spine fellowship, so he will no longer be treating general orthopedic patients. The orthopedic care of Dr. Sandu's patient's will be transitioned to other physicians in our group, ensuring that there will be no lapse in clinical management.
Dr. Sandu will refer you to partners in our group who are qualified to handle your orthopedic issues. Should patients want other orthopedic provider options, please consult with your insurance carrier who can refer you to other in-network providers.
Your medical records are confidential, and a copy can be transferred to another doctor or released to you or another person you designate only by your permission. If you plan to continue with this office, no action needs to take place. If you choose to see a different physician outside of our group, please ask our receptionist for a release of records authorization form and return it to our office as soon as possible so that we may transfer your records to your new doctor. Until then, your records will remain on file at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas.

The Orthopedic Specialists of Dallas would like to announce that our founding partner , Dr Umar Burney , has successfully completed his Orthopedic Sports Medicine Board Subspecialty Certification administered by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. This added qualification allows Dr Burney to join the ranks of a select few surgeons in the DFW Metroplex who are double- Boarded in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. We are proud of his achievement and feel this highlights our organization's commitment to consistently providing the highest level of care to our patients and community.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Inducted into Academy
Chicago, IL– Mohammad Umar Burney, MD of Rockwall, Texas was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) on March 22, 2013, during ceremonies at the Academy’s 2013 Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL. Dr. Burney was one of 585 new members inducted. The AAOS has more than 37,000 members worldwide.
Dr. Burney is in private practice with offices in Rockwall and Forney Texas. He is keen on maintaining a high-standard orthopaedic practice that utilizes all the latest technologies. Dr. Burney continuously fosters ties with educational institutions on a local, national and international level allowing him to offer patients the latest advances in orthopaedic care. Dr. Burney contributes to ongoing biomechanical research at several regional academic institutions and has attended scientific meetings. It is his belief that these efforts serve to expand the knowledgebase and enhance the quality of care in our communities.
An orthopaedic surgeon is a physician with extensive training in the diagnosis and non-surgical as well as surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.
The Academy is the largest medical association for musculoskeletal specialists. Its Fellows have completed medical school, plus at least five years of specialty study in orthopaedics in an accredited residency program, passed a comprehensive oral and written exam, and have been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
