Interventional Spine Physiatrist

Position Summary: Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas is seeking an Interventional Spine Physiatrist. The Physiatrist will primarily care for patients with back and neck pain, musculoskeletal problems, and acute chronic spine disorders. Must be able to provide comprehensive clinical care management and be fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgical procedures, including epidural, facet, and sacroiliac joint injections. The physiatrist will collaborate closely with all teams to including our Physical Therapy department. You will be responsible for on-call and must participate in quality improvement projects.

The preferred candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be expected to help sustain and grow an active clinical practice across various practice locations in Rockwall, Wylie, and Forney.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional medical services in the specialty of physiatry to patients.
  • Provides minimally Invasive surgical procedures within the normal scope of physiatry practice while in a procedure suite following procedural guidelines to include staff education.
  • Maintains medical records in a timely fashion and cooperates with billing, peer review and compliance programs.
  • Provides oversight and education for students, residents, and any mid-level providers.
  • Maintains privileges and mutual agreements with hospitals, including the duties required to maintain those privileges such as medical record completion and compliance.
  • Identifies and promotes opportunities for improvement of care.
  • Monitors developments in specialty field and promotes new programs that meet new program criteria.
  • Provides medical leadership to teams treating assigned patients and promotes harmonious and effective team functioning.
  • Models professional behavior.
  • Enhances knowledge and understanding of services among medical professionals and patient populations through regular participation events with community networks and partners.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified and Fellowship trained in interventional procedures preferred.
Front Desk

Job Purpose: Attend to patients on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care.

Reports to: Office Lead / Clinic Supervisor / Operations Manager

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to quality standards and proper procedures for front office
  • Resolve patient complaints and/or answer patient’s questions regarding policies and procedures
  • Answer calls, greet customers and patients, and schedule appointments in electronic medical records system
  • Audit superbills daily as assigned
  • Attend to messages and task daily
  • Work no show and cancel appointments daily
  • Verify insurance online and through direct contact with insurance company
  • Track referrals and follow-up constantly
  • Check in/Check out patients, ensure patient paperwork completion
  • Correct and efficient entering of information into GloStream EMR

Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant Job Purpose: Clinical assistant who supports the work of Physicians, Physician assistants and other health professional in a clinic setting.

Reports to: Operations Manager

Medical Assistant Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifies patient information while rooming and recording medical history in the EMR system, confirming purpose of visit.
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
  • Preparing injections, ultrasound, and casting.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidently by completing and safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential.
  • Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about their visits and surgery.
  • Schedules surgeries, if needed, by making arrangements with the surgery scheduler; verifying place and times with patients and ensuring process is completed.

Licensed Physical Therapist

Job Purpose: The Physical Therapist will provide a hands-on approach to patient care and perform in accordance with the Physician orders and plan of care.

Reports to: Director of Physical Therapy

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage movement dysfunction to restore and promote improvement in physical function and wellness
  • Prevent the onset and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, and injuries
  • Engage in an examination process that includes taking patient history, conducting systems review and performing tests and measurements to identify patient impairments and establish goals
  • Provide appropriate patient interventions and modify those interventions to achieve expected outcomes
  • Determine if physical therapy interventions are outside the scope of practice and refer to the appropriate provider

Procedure Scheduler

Job Function: Schedules Surgeries, MRIs/ CT, and gets pre-certifications

Reports to: Clinic Supervisor / Operations Manager

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Surgeries, Post-Op Appts, and any diagnostic images ordered by provider.
  • Verify insurance and get pre-cert when needed for all procedures and diagnostics.
  • Coordinates efforts with Medical Assistants, Physician Assistants and Physicians.
  • Receives approval for Assistant in surgeries; give information to physicians
  • Coordinate efforts with hospitals and imaging facilities.
  • Ensuring that all required DME is ordered for surgeries and records are logged.
  • Ensuring all pre-op blood work and other tests ordered before surgery are received and given to the correct facility and/or persons; coordinating with hospitals, anesthesia groups, therapy, reps, or other allied health professionals as needed.
  • Answering phone calls; sending appropriate tasks and messages to correct co-workers
  • Managing paperwork related to surgery consents. Obtaining medical history and information from patients to assist in the surgery scheduling process.
  • Following up with facilities the day before surgeries are scheduled to ensure the facilities have everything they needed for all surgeries.
  • Collects payment from patients prior to surgery as required by OSD.
  • Collecting payment for DME.
  • Inform patient regarding an AS during surgery; put account notes in the system regarding verification of an AS

Physician Assistant

Physician Assistant Purpose: Provide healthcare services such as conducting complete exams, providing treatment, and counseling patients, under the supervision of a Physician

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and maintains patient health by providing and performing comprehensive medical services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnose and establish a working diagnosis. Formulate a treatment plan for Orthopedic problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals.
  • Perform follow-up post operative calls in addition to call backs to patients who require additional communication outside of the standard visit.
  • Lead physician team to ensure high level of customer service is achieved through monitoring Medical Assistance ensuring patients orders are sent, call backs are completed, medications are refilled in a timely manner and any other item within the scope of an orthopaedic clinic.
  • Perform procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens. Ordering or performing diagnostic studies such as but not limited to EMG, electrocardiogram, compartment pressure measurements, and x-ray examinations including special x-ray examinations CT, MRI, and bone scans etc.
  • Perform procedures such as but not limited to minor outpatient surgical procedures such as but not limited to tendon repair, wound closure, wound management, wound debridement, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, percutaneous pinning of fractures, k-wire removal, and hardware removal.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa, as well as brace, cast and splint applications.
  • Assist in surgery to include but not limited to first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, application of appliances and any other action delegated by the surgeon. Conduct hospital, rounds, write orders, and take call for the Orthopedic surgeon. Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate, and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories, and physicals.
  • Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer Medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces, and other Orthopedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation.
  • Evaluate, screen and council patient on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources. Design, conduct and/or participate in research studies, manage databases, and perform quality assurance.
  • Provide athletic event and sports weekend clinic coverage as determined by employer and management committee.
  • Maintain in good standing with TMB, Malpractice, and other entities are determined by employer.
  • Assist with sports coverage as needed for local high schools that our office supports.
  • Perform Telemedicine visits at the request of the patient and/or physician.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with medical staff at credentialed facilities.
