Jay Tapia, PT, DPT Director of Physical Therapy - Licensed Physical Therapist

Jay Tapia, PT, DPT, is the Director of Therapy at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas (OSD), leading physical therapy and sports performance services across Rockwall, Forney, Wylie, and Royse City. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2014 and has built his career around advancing sports rehabilitation and performance training through evidence-based practice.
Jay specializes in sports physical therapy, performance training, and return-to-play rehabilitation, with a strong focus on applying the latest research to optimize outcomes. He is passionate about bridging the gap between rehabilitation and high-level performance, using data-driven strategies, movement analysis, and strength and conditioning principles to help athletes recover faster and perform at a higher level.
With a commitment to staying at the forefront of sports medicine research, Jay integrates current evidence, biomechanics, and performance science into individualized treatment plans. He works with athletes across all levels—including competitive athletes, CrossFit participants, runners, and tactical athletes—as well as active adults looking to improve strength, mobility, and resilience.
Prior to his career in physical therapy, Jay served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman and a member of Marine Corps Security Forces. His military experience shaped his disciplined, performance-focused approach and his ability to lead both patients and clinical teams.
Jay also played semi-professional football for the San Antonio Stampede as a fullback and tight end, giving him firsthand experience with the physical demands of sport, injury recovery, and performance training. This athletic background allows him to connect with patients and design sport-specific programs that translate directly to real-world performance.
In his leadership role, Jay oversees all therapy operations at OSD while continuing to treat patients. He develops individualized rehabilitation and performance programs for athletes and active individuals of all ages—from youth athletes to seasoned competitors—helping them return to sport stronger, faster, and more resilient.
